Every monday, 8pm – 11pm
A relaxed night of tango dancing in Cardiff city centre
The venue
Barocco Bar is a fantastic place for tango with it’s rich wooden floor, velvet furnishings and baroque statues. On Mondays we have the whole of the upstairs for ourselves, with comfy seating on one side of the dance floor and the balcony on the other. Looking down from the balcony you can see the bar and sometimes you can see onlookers staring up astounded at this dance we call tango.
The milonga is relaxed, with no pressure to dance if you’d prefer just to chill out with a drink. Visitors and newcomers are very welcome.
Music
Mostly the good old favourites from the golden age of tango in Buenos Aires, but with a sprinkling of nuevo tracks and some which aren’t tango at all but are gorgeous to dance to.
Directions
Barocco is in central Cardiff. Walk to the middle of St. Mary Street until you reach the department store Howells (House of Fraser). Barocco is round the corner on Wharton Street.
By car: the best, cheapest and closest parking is in new shopping complex. You have two choices; The John Lewis car park which is slightly closer but shuts at midnight (you shouldn’t have any problems unless you like to chat after the milonga finishes) or you car park in the main St. Davids 2 car park with it’s long spiral entrance but is open 24 hours a day. Both cost £1 after 5pm for the whole evening.
